La Gazzetta dello Sport reports that the 33-year-old is battling to recover from a muscular problem sustained against FC Zurich.
Although Oguchi Onyewu was brought on in his place to make his debut for the club, it is likely that Giuseppe Favalli will replace Nesta at the heart of the defence if the latter cannot recover from injury in time.
Fortunately for Leonardo, the Rossoneri are coming to the end of their busy fixture list and he can regroup during the international break.
