Thiago Silva is hoping AC Milan can replicate their performance at Real Madrid when they visit Napoli.

Milan won 3-2 at the Bernabeu last Wednesday in the Champions League and gave a performance which is likely to be used as the benchmark for the rest of the season.

The Rossoneri will certainly need to be at their resolute best when they make the trip south to the hostile Stadio San Paolo in Naples.

And Silva believes the attacking approach Milan adopted in Madrid could serve them well once more.

He said: "Napoli are a great team with quality players who can make the difference.

"We have to go to the San Paolo to take control of the game, play with personality but always respecting the opponent.

"That doesn't mean we have to stay closed in defence, but attack like we did at the Bernabeu.

"Attack the opponent: that is the secret of our latest results."

Milan's win in the Spanish capital came either side of Serie A successes against Roma and Chievo and lifted the pressure considerably on coach Leonardo, who was starting to feel the heat after a slow start to the season.

But they will have to be at their best for that resurgence to continue against a Napoli side who arguably enjoyed the best win of the weekend after emerging 1-0 winners at Fiorentina on Sunday.

Napoli goalkeeper Morgan De Sanctis is already hoping to extend his side's winning run which started with a 2-1 home defeat of Bologna on October 18.

The former Udinese stopper told the club's official website: "In Florence we gave a very convincing performance and it would have been a shame not to have won having played with such intensity.

"But now we must already look ahead. Let's enjoy these six points but we have to focus on Milan.

"We are confident but the real breakthrough will only come if we continue to get good results, starting tomorrow."

Midfielder Salvatore Aronica is also expecting an exciting game against Milan.

He said: "It is a match of great importance as AC Milan are in rude health and also going through a good run of form.

"There is confidence in our squad but we also have respect for the opponent.

"I think it will be a close game between two well-balanced teams but we will have the backing of our fans. There will be a packed San Paolo which will hopefully improve our chances of winning."

Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis is also hoping the vocal support of the Naples crowd will spur his side on.

He told Radio Marte: "I am happy that the fans will come to the San Paolo even more enthusiastic than usual after these two wins.

"It will surely be a great match but we will face a team of international standing and full of extraordinary champions.

"Napoli always do well in these big games and let's hope we can continue our positive run."

Walter Mazzarri took over the reins at Napoli after Roberto Donadoni's sacking at the start of October and will be hoping to extend his winning run to three games.

He will have to do without the injured Juan Zuniga and Fabiano Santacroce while Milan are missing Marek Jankulovski and Ignazio Abate.
